Anatomically Correct Animation of a Humanoid
نویسنده
چکیده
The human body is one of the most mysterious and fascinating works that nature has ever created. One of the most important requirements for its correct simulation is the animation of its virtual skeleton. It thus becomes useful to be able to ensure that the animations meet the biomechanical constraints of the human body, with minimal recourse to human assistance. We studied several existing techniques of adaptation of animations to skeletons, limitation of rotations in joints with various degrees of freedom, and coupling of motion of joints that in the human skeleton also move together. We developed a model for a skeleton with integrated biomechanical constraints, and indirect driving of some joints. We examined the adequacy of the chosen techniques, pointing out some aws that currently prevent the proper use of the skeleton and also proposing solutions for them.

The ACT Hand
Robotic hands built for manipulation are often anthropomorphic but not anatomically accurate. We are constructing an anatomically-correct testbed (ACT) of the human hand to understand its mechanisms, function, and control. We have previously demonstrated that an accurate model of the extensor mechanism in the ACT Hand is crucial in realizing the human-like finger movements. Here, we present des...
متن کاملA Comparison of Design Strategies for 3D Human Motions*
Three-dimensional character animation and especially human animation becomes everyday more popular for simulation, multimedia applications, and games. However the specification of human motion in a computer animation system is still a tedious task for the user in most commercial systems. Based on the experience on the ESPRIT projects HUMANOID and HUMANOID-2, we compare in this paper the various...
متن کاملFlexible Foot/Ankle Based on PKM with Force/Torque Sensor for Humanoid Robot
This paper describes the development of a novel humanoid robot foot/ankle based on an orientation Parallel Kinematic Mechanism for intelligent and flexible control. With three identical Universal-Prismatic-Spherical prismatic-actuated limbs and a central Universal-Revolute passive limb, the PKM can perform three degrees of freedom rotation motions. In order to enable the humanoid robot safely t...

This paper describes the design and implementation of TH-MOS Teen-Size humanoid robot, including the basic specifications, control system, gait planning and vision-based motion control strategy. The robot adopts a centralized control system, layout, coordination and implement are fulfilled by a high performance PC104 embedded computer.
متن کاملTrajectory Generation in Groping Locomotion of a 21-dof Humanoid Robot
The formulation and optimization of joint trajectories for a humanoid robot’s manipulator is quite different from standard robots’ because of the complexity of its kinematics and dynamics. This paper presents a formulation to solve kinematics problems to generate trajectory for a 21-DOF humanoid robot in the groping-locomotion method. The groping-locomotion method includes a basic autonomous in...
